Draughtsman/Draughtswoman Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, personable, and detail-oriented Draughtsman/Draughtswoman. This position sits within our busy Draughting Team and is an office-based in Perivale. We specialise in designing, fabricating, and installing bespoke metalwork solutions for a wide range of architectural and construction projects.
The main job purpose is to create accurate technical drawings based on given measurements, specifications and calculations.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Design and Drafting: Utilise SolidWorks software to create accurate 2D and 3D drawings, models, and assemblies for architectural metalwork components and structures.
- Collaborative Design: Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to interpret design specifications and translate them into detailed drawings.
- Material Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate materials for each project, considering factors such as strength, durability, and aesthetics.
- Compliance: Ensure that all designs adhere to relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards, with a focus on safety and quality.
- Bill of Materials (BOM): Create and maintain BOMs to facilitate the procurement of materials and components for each project.
- Revision and Modification: Review and revise drawings as necessary, responding to changes and feedback from project stakeholders.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation including technical drawings, assembly instructions, and design records.
- Quality Control: Participate in quality control and quality assurance processes, assisting with inspections to ensure that products meet the required standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, software updates, and emerging technologies to enhance design and drafting processes.
- Be confident working across a number of projects at the same time to assist colleagues and project deadlines.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- A strong proficiency in SolidWorks and other relevant CAD software. A minimum of 2 years of experience within a similar business is required for this role.
- A background in architectural metalwork or a similar field is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models.
- Understanding of architectural design principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work independently and in a team.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards in the UK.
- A relevant degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- A Team player who enjoys a busy office and steady workload.
- Good organisational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

- Elite Fabrication is the newest addition to the Elite Metal Group. Created for Architects, Garden Designers and Landscape Contractors this division specialises in architectural and bespoke steel products commonly used on traditional landscape schemes. Whether you’re looking for planters, landscape edging, balustrades, pergolas or access hatches, Elite Fabrication will have a solution to your design challenge.
The Elite Metal Group is based in North-West London and is proud to be the ONLY London based steel supplier that can survey, design, manufacture, wet spray, deliver and install using our own in-house facilities and highly professional Team.
